Resentment

Resentment plagues the minds of blind eyes
who flourished in the mud pool.
We lived there for years.
Unaware of the clogged drains
it would cause when we finally decided to shower.

But oh, how warm it was.
Sun shined upon the mud
and protected our skin.

I will carry that feeling with me.
While I clean these drains.
When the plumber man comes
with the bill we owe to him.
I will remember the warmth of the mud.
And how, once,
I loved the mud.

For the mud
did not know
we would one day

grow separate from it.
It only gave us
the aligned energy
we needed
at the time.
